Introduction to Programming Fundamentals in primary education

In 2017, in order to popularize information and communication technologies among children, "Zerde" National Infocommunication Holding" JSC (hereinafter – “Zerde” Holding) has developed a curriculum for the optional course "Programming Fundamentals" for grades 2-4 of primary education.

The main goal of the course "Programming Fundamentals" is to teach childкут to think logically and disassemble each task in detail on the platform of "Scratch" programming language.

In the game format, children learn programming from scratch and are easily involved in the educational process. They create simple animations, while developing such abilities as logic, creativity, creative skills, etc.

Thanks to the agreement between the "Zerde" Holding and MIT, the materials of the training course "Programming Fundamentals" are available in the state language.

The developed curriculum was tested in the 2017-2018 academic year at school-lyceum No. 27 with a total coverage of 373 children.

In addition, since the beginning of the 2018-2019 academic year, the curriculum has been successfully replicated in 87 schools of the Aktobe region and 57 schools in the city of Nur-Sultan.
